About this Collection

JEWISH COMMITTEE HANNOVER OHE-STRASSE 8 TELEPHONE: 20178 Subject: L/K. To Chief Rabbis Council London June 19 the 7 194. Dear esteemed Rabbis and dear friends! A few days ago, a shipment of food was sent to Celle, which was intended for Bergen-Belsen for religious purposes. However, we learned that Celle has retained a larger quantity for the same purposes. We turn to you with the following explanation: It has been known to you for some time that Hannover has a larger number of Jewish residents, of whom a significant part are religious Jews. To our regret, we must express that the current attitude of indecision, whether Hannover has a claim to this shipment for its religious institutions, which we do not wish to enumerate at this time, is outrageous. We do not wish to quarrel over such matters, but we would like to hear your opinion on this issue. We have so far maintained complete harmony among our religious institutions in our city, and we wish to continue doing so. Therefore, we request a quick and positive response from you. With blessings, A. Lipschitte Religious Department Jewish Committee Religious Division Hannover
