Dear esteemed Rabbis and dear friends! A few days ago, a shipment of food was sent to Celle, which was intended for Bergen-Belsen for religious purposes. However, we learned that Celle has retained a larger quantity for the same purposes. We turn to you with the following explanation: It has been known to you for some time that Hannover has a larger number of Jewish residents, of whom a significant part are religious Jews. To our regret, we must express that the current attitude of indecision, whether Hannover has a claim to this shipment for its religious institutions, which we do not wish to enumerate at this time, is outrageous. We do not wish to quarrel over such matters, but we would like to hear your opinion on this issue. We have so far maintained complete harmony among our religious institutions in our city, and we wish to continue doing so. Therefore, we request a quick and positive response from you. HANNOVER, December 30, 1946 Wittekindstr. 34 Telephone 41690 102. Nil Gor Bed I have received your letter from December 2 and will return the shofar to you shortly. I have not received any mail or other shipments for a long time. Especially tefillin, falessin, as well as candles and cigarettes, etc., are urgently needed, as we constantly have large expenses to cover. For example, a kosher meat factory has now been established, which is the only one in the entire British zone. The mikveh will be completed in about 2 weeks. Dear Rabbi Lubinski, I beg to inform you that I dispatched to your address two parcels with Religious Requisites intended for the Exodus Camp, Sengwarden which I would like you to hand over to Mr. Jacob ROTH, Block 2/33. The Parcels are marked "J. ROTH". At the same time I would like to point out to you that besides various letters and a cable we have still not had the receipts in duplicate we have asked for. LUBINSKI RABBI OF THE JEWISH CONGREGATION HANNOVER, den Wittekindstr. 34 Fernruf 416 90 November 11, 1947 Dear Dr. Lichtigfeld, I am very interested to hear from you, whether you have arrived back well. Unfortunately, I have not heard anything from you yet. Regarding the matter of supplying the Jewish prisoners with kosher provisions, I can inform you that this is being handled and taken care of from here. The matter of kosher provisions for the camps Emden and Senkwaarden has already been resolved, with the result that the meat is already being delivered from Hannover. I am in constant contact with the camps. As for the kosher provisions for Camp Belsen, I can inform you that Mar Laren and Mr. Otway have taken care of this matter. I have the approval that not only 50% but 100% kosher can be delivered. For the Exodus people, I urgently need various religious books. Regarding these people, I have all the help from the English authorities. They will not be regarded as DPs. In the new camps, things are still not entirely in order, but certainly much better than in Peppendorf and Am Stau.
